Cupcake treat basket

I made a cute thank you gift today for my friend Brittanie that I would like to show you.  I found the idea at Eighteen25,  they're having guest bloggers all month with fabulous Halloween ideas.

It's a cupcake basket that you seperately package and label, see the liners, toppers, confetti and home made banner.

Then you add a cake mix and frosting, I wrapped mine in divine twine.

I wish I could think of these things myself!

PS Brittanie, take a picture and show me how it looks!

Bad doggy

The weather is finally cooling down so I pulled out my well worn cozy slippers,
apparently the dog thinks I need a new pair!  Don't tell my daughter, but after I've sent her off to early morning seminary I sometimes jump back into bed, that's when the dog made his move.  So sad, now I need to find out if and when Costco will carry my new slippers (they're just as good as ugg slippers but a fraction of the price, really!)

Mickey Bear McKenzie

But seriously, who could be mad at this face.  (He really has two eyes, I promise!)

An aqua painted door

This caught my eye, an aqua painted door that made me very happy!

This kitchen belongs to Shelley at The House of Smiths, go check it out along with her area rug redo
(that matches her aqua door).

Speaking of doors, I once had an Irish doctor who had this poster or one like it in his office,
I could stare at these doors forever.

Going to see Elton John

I am so excited...I just booked 3 tickets for Elton John at Ceaser's Palace in Las Vegas for October 15!!!
I had a wild hair last night and I suggested it to my daughter and now...we're going!

I'll be seeing some of that red piano, and who can't sing along to Elton John!

Sorry peeps, that felt more like a Facebook comment than a blog comment, but who cares,
I'm going to see Sir Elton John.

Sewing table redo

So, remember that dresser I bought and refinished,
I also bought an antique sewing table too, for next to nothing $10!
I know for a fact that this one is antique, I promise, it had a very solid heavy black Singer sewing machine inside of it!
After the sewing machine was removed it left a large hole in the top, no problem when the table is closed but I wanted to use the entire open surface.

So I just set my printer on the hole, ha!
Now I have a handy spot for my Silhouette and printer too!

Blog help and a few wedding pictures too

I have to thank Funky Junk Interiors for the awesome blog help post she did a while back.  I learned so much about my blog and how to make it easier for you to use,
and for me to use too.  Check it out here.
And how about some photos of the wedding, (for those of you who have been asking).

Aren't they cute!

Alphabet bunting

I am a fool for a cute bunting, okay, any kind of bunting will do!

I found this free download at Ruffled, who got it from Two Brunettes.  So now you can say, I got this free download at Me Myself and Tena, who got it from Ruffled who got it from Two Brunettes and so on and so on and so on.  Just go make a bunting for that special occasion, I am.

Dresser redo

Well, I finally finished it.  This dresser that I called "old" is probably from the 70's which makes me older than the darn dresser!
I'm totally deflated... not really but it sounded good!

I took the front off the middle drawer so I could put the dvd player and cable box there, spray painted and distressed it and added some new drawer pulls.
It's now my new TV stand in the family room and I kind of like it.  Silly me, I really like it!

Butter tarts

Today I made these.

Butter tarts!

I was going to explain what a butter tart is, but I thought Wikipedia could do it for me.
butter tart is a type of small pastry tart highly regarded in Canadian cuisine and considered one of Canada's quintessential desserts. The tart consists of buttersugar, syrup, and egg filled into a flaky pastry and baked until the filling is semi-solid with a crunchy top.
Oh my!

I used this recipe.

Printables

I keep finding these wonderful printable sayings, here are a few
of my favorites for the week.  Oh, I'm sure you already do this, but I save them to my computer then send them off to Costco to be printed, they're inexpensive and the print quality is the best.

I've made a copy of this one for my daughters room,
you can find it at
Beneath my Heart.

This one I pinned up in my son,
 it's waiting for you at
Bonjour-Our Life and a Little Inspiration.

This one I simply found
 and made one for myself.

My weekend find

Salvation Army is my favorite place to go on a Friday morning.  I am always sure there will be something there just waiting for me and that day there was!

I found this great old 3 drawer dresser, it was labelled $100, then I complained because it was so beat up and the kind saleslady said "yea, it will take a lot to fix that up",  just what I like to hear.  So she marked it to $40 and then I got the 40% off, which brought the price to a whopping $24!

I'm turning it into a tv stand so I'll show you later in the week when it's all ready.

Trash can labels

I am proud to say I can finally use my Silhouette SD without pain or heartache!  It was actually really easy  but I didn't want to take the time before the wedding to figure it out.  So yesterday I made labels for my new fabulous, love, love, love simplehuman expensive trash cans.

The dog can't steal stuff out of these babies!

Pantry redo

I would like my kitchen pantry to look just like this...

Mallory and Savannah at Classy Clutter put this together.
Wait, I just want my name to be Mallory or Savannah!

Fall...I wish!

It...it...so...HOT!
I know I've already complained about the temperature but can I do it again, please, just for a little bit?
I'm doing some fall "therapy" with this post, humor me.

Do you know why leaves change colors in the fall?  Don't you just want to put on a sweater and walk through that forest just to hear the leaves crunch under your feet?

I am fascinated by these felted wool balls, so my next project is to make a garland using the tutorial at According to Kelly and I like the colors.

I'm also looking forward to printing out an autumn banner at Poppies at Play, because an autumn banner means it's almost Christmas, and it's cute besides.

And this makes me really happy, it's not actually fall but it is a photo I took on our holiday to Ontario this summer.

I'm sorry friends but I can't appreciate the hot summers here in California, especially since I grew up knowing four seasons and wearing a knit sweater to the first day of school!
So when the stores start selling halloween things, and I start smelling cinnamon and wanting to burn my smelly candles, I know it's autumn, even if the temperature on my car reads 106!

I finally tried the twister game

Yes!  This was so much fun to make and the Young Women had so much fun playing on it!

I've already blogged about this awesome outdoor Twister game but today I finally made one
in my friends backyard, it's been so terribly hot here so spray painting
64 circles on her lawn was an adventure!
I did just as Sassy Style suggested and cut a circle from a piece of cardboard the size of a large bowl. Since I didn't have the actual spinner, I just printed out the moves on slips of paper (right foot, left foot, right hand, left hand and red, blue, yellow, pink)
then drew them out of a bowl,  I went online to print out the actual rules.

It was all worth it because the girls had a blast using it!!!

Even in the dark!
Hmmm, maybe glow in the dark twister next time?
