White

I've done a blue post, so now it's time for white post.
I've decided that my kitchen needs to ease out of the khaki/red phase and into a white phase,  My cupboards are already white so I'll need to do a tiny drop of something to the white wall color to make a statement.  Keep in mind I've been wanting to paint for some months now, sooooo, it will be some months till I actually get around to doing it!

In the mean time I found lots of fabulous white "things" to look at.

How about this white room from Knox Design.

I think everyone needs a white couch, wait a minute, let me think that over one more time.
You Are Talking Too Much will show you how she did it.

Make your own ruffled laundry bag at Freckled Laundry.

The Woods Family made a nice display with all white frames,  we can do that!

I love these curtains from The Shabby Creek Cottage
Love this...Vintage by Nina.

Wrapped chocolate

We're doing a rehersal dinner on Wednesday for Devon and Ashley's wedding, I thought it would be cute to make some wrapped chocolate bars for after dinner, I did this instead of a cake, but...I'm thinking we should have a cake too.  Oh well!

P.S. I finally conquered used my new Silhouette machine!

More of what I liked this week

It's always fun perusing the internet for fun blogs, this week I found some colorful things that would be fun and easy to do with kids.

Pink and Green Mama shows you how to tie dye with markers!

Here at the Idea Room you can make your own candy rings.

My favorite thing to do, here you can spray paint all occasion cans at Blissfully Content.

Lovely Design has a printout to help you make these adorable pennants.

Have some last minute fun before school starts, ours starts on Monday!  Don't forget to make some reusable lunch sacks here.

Paint your own beach glass

Who knew that blue glass was all the rage, cause I just got the memo!  I bought a few Crown jars while on my holiday and didn't really appreciate them for what they were until now.  I'm kicking myself that I didn't buy more of them for .50 a piece.  All is well because I found out how to paint your own glass to make them blue!

There are many versions online on how to do it but I liked this one at The Little Apartment
 the best.

Clock redo

I thought I was tired of the yellow clock in my dining room.

So I took it apart and spray painted the face.

Then I applied a vinyl M in the middle. (I should have painted it on to give it more depth)

And put it all back together again, here it is.  I'm not entirely happy with it so tomorrow I am going to take it all apart again and distress it.  Then I'll be happy with my clock redo!

Thrift store mania

I bought some glassware at the thrift store today with intentions of turning them into
candy dishes for the wedding reception.

All this cost me just over $6.00.

And I turned it into this.

With a little spray paint and some E6000 I now have a pedestal cake plate and 2 covered candy dishes!
I love a good look through a thrift store, it's so exciting to find just the right thing, or the fixings to make just the right thing.

A soft french braid

I saw this on Youtube and tried it on my daughter.

It's so pretty isn't it?  When mine looks as good as hers does I will post a picture of it!
In the mean time you can see how Love Maegan does it here.

What I liked this week

These caught my attention this week.

I made some of these labels from The Wedding Chicks (fabulously free download)
for Ashley and Devon's reception.

Delaney learned to crochet during our cottage holiday,  I think this is a cute way to practice her awesome crochet skills!

Isn't this dixie cup lighted garland adorable from Hey Gorgeous.
I'll be making a string of these for Crystal's baby shower.

This...just looked really...good!  Get your recipe at The Whimsical Cupcake.

And, I'm reading this right now.

Banff

I was reading one of my many favorite blogs this morning and it just happened to be about
Banff National Park.  I spent a summer working at the Banff Springs Hotel there during college.

Isn't it beautiful!
Yes, the water really is that blue.
 Now check out this video!

Cloche jars

I've lately had a fascination for these cloche jars.  I'm doing a "candy" table for my sons wedding at the end of the month and I want to make several of these in different sizes to add to the table.

This one from Vintage Gwen uses a wooden top knob.

I like the look of glass gems for the top knob too, at Carolyns Homework.
